So here´s another random one. I read
this really funny post about how ridiculous job applications can be recently. It was
basically a list of random skills like „plugging in a USB at first try“ and it
somehow inspired me to make my own. Since I´ve been writing quite a few job
applications myself lately, I felt like it was quite fitting, too. If any
future employee happens to read this, I sincerely hope these skills will win
you over. Here they are:
- Making coffee
- Always having ibuprofen and gum with me
- Is owning a Spotify account a skill?
- When someone´s sad, I will send them funny memes until they laugh again
- Finding a parking spot
- Not liking chocolate is definitely worth mentioning. More for the people that do!
- My extended knowledge on the Harry Potter universe.
- Free opinion on other people´s fashion choices
- Proof-reading
- Solving computer issues by using the magic trick: turn it off and then back on again
- Massaging skills
- I enjoy cleaning (I know it´s weird)
- Making the best guacamole
- Animals love me
- Sarcasm
- I am small so I don´t take up a lot of space
Okay, that last one was a bit weird.
Let´s stop this. But you get the idea. Let´s be honest though: we can rarely
bring across any personality in a job application, which sucks because sympathy
often decides who gets hired. Maybe your future boss doesn´t NEED to know you
have a love for post-modern art, but what if they have a collection they´re
just dying to share with someone? You never know. :)
